About Dr Ngcobo
Dr Khayelihle Ngcobo obtained his MBCHB from University of Natal in 2000. He did his internship and community service at Prince Mshiyeni Memorial hospital in Umlazi, KwaZuluNatal. He then went to the United Kingdom for 2 years where he worked in London and Leeds as a senior house officer. He returned to South Africa and started with HIV work, initiating HAART in peripheral primary health care clinics around Pinetown. In 2013, he joined the department of cardiothoracic surgery. He underwent cardiothoracic surgery training at UKZN, qualified as a Specialist cardiothoracic surgeon and was admitted as a Fellow of the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa in 2018. He attained his MMed degree with UKZN in 2020.
Dr Khayelihle Ngcobo joins the private sector after having spent more than 20 years working in public sector of KwaZulu-Natal, 10 years of which were in the department of cardiothoracic surgery in Inkosi Albert Luthuli Hospital and King Dinizulu Hospital. He is skilled in both open and minimally invasive thoracic surgery. His vast experience in the public sector has instilled in him a compassion for community outreach.
